3 Day Uganda Gorilla Safari

Gorilla tracking is one of the most amazing wildlife exeriences in the world and this short but sweet itinerary is just perfect if you have only a limited time to see them. Uganda is home to more than half of the remaining mountain gorillas, which are found in Bwindi Impenetrable Park and Mgahinga Gorilla National park.

Day 1: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park (8 - 9 hrs drive)

Your guide/driver will pick you up from Entebbe and drive you to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park to check in to your lodge. (Alternatively, you can also fly to kihihi airstrip where you will then be transferred to your lodge.)

En route stopover at the Equator for photographs then continue, passing through the savannah grass land with the long horned Ankole cows grazing along the road. Stop over for lunch at Mbarara town and then descend to the beautiful Kigezi hills commonly known as the ‘Switzerland of Africa’. Have plenty of rest as you prepare for an adventurous gorilla tracking activity the next day.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking

After an early breakfast, head to the park headquarters for a briefing and registration. You will be assigned to a gorilla group with a guidewho will lead you through the forest in search of the gorillas.

The trek can take anywhere from 2 to 8 hours depending on the location and movement of the gorillas. Once you find them, you will have an hour to observe and photograph from a safe distance. This is a truly unforgettable experience as you witness the gorillas' natural behaviour and interactions. After the hour, you will trek back to the starting point and head back to your accommodation for the night. 

Alternatively, you can book the gorilla habituation experience that allows you to spend a full day with the gorillas, from dawn to dusk, as the feed, nest. play and groom each other.

Day 3: Transfer back to Entebbe International Airport

After Breakfast, you will be transferred back to Kampala. Enroute enjoy the beautiful journey through the Kigezi hillas and see the local communities on the uplands. You will have a stop over in Mbarara municipality for lunch before you proceed to Kampala. Upon arrival, you will be trasnferred to Entebbe International Aiport for your onward flight.
