  • Accommodation in intimate middle-class safari lodge
  • Upclose encounters with Uganda's gentle giants
  • Only USD 1,461 per person!

INTRODUCTION

This 4Day Gorilla safari takes you to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National park where half of the world's endangered mountain gorillas live. No other wildlife encounter in Africa matches the astounding experience of spending time face-to-face with wild mountain gorillas. The fact that mountain gorillas as a species are on the brink of extinction and treks are a highly restricted activity, encountering them is considered a once-in-a-lifetime travel experience and on this safari, you will get to see why!

DAY BY DAY ITINERARY:

Day 1: Welcome to Uganda!

Your driver/guide will pick you up from Entebbe airport and transfers you to ViaVia Guesthouse, only a 10 minute drive. This is where your Safari Hunters UG driver/ guide will find you tomorrow morning for the start of your tour after a good breakfast.

Depending on the time of your arrival, you might be able to explore the area. There are many options in Entebbe that can be easily organized before your arrival in Uganda. For example a visit to the Botanical gardens or the Ugandan Wildlife Education Centre (UWEC). Please ask if you would like us to book any of these trips for you

Overnight: Via Via Guesthouse

Day 2: Travel to Bwindi

After an early morning breakfast, your journey will then continue south-west toward Kisoro, a bustling town next to the Bwindi Forest, near the borders to Rwanda and Congo. This is one of our favorite drives in Uganda. The serpentine roads wind through lush rainforests, skirting hill tops (keep your eyes open for the volcanos!) and dipping into lively villages in the valley before arriving at Rushaga Gorilla Camp.

Day 3: Gorilla Tracking

Today is the big day… Prepare yourself for an encounter with one of Bwindi’s gentle giants: the rare Mountain Gorilla, an experience of a lifetime.

Half of the world’s population of gorillas live under the mist-covered canopies of Uganda’s oldest and most biologically diverse rainforest. You will be tracking the whereabouts of one of the nine habituated family groups who live in the park.

Your tracking experience will be an exciting journey along forested slopes, tangled vines, thick vegetation and bamboo forests before you reach the territory of these gentle giants. En-route, your ranger will point out signs of previous gorilla activity like dung, nests and chewed bamboo shoots. Depending on the location of the gorillas, the walk can take anything from 2 to 7 hours. Once the family of gorillas has been located, settle in to your surroundings and enjoy the hour you have to quietly observe these fascinating primates whose habits and mannerisms remind us so much of our own.

You are sure to remember this experience for the rest of your life.
